Determining if 1999 Grand Am can use keyless entry remote?
Q. I bought a 1999 Grand Am FSBO and I just bought the manual for it. I think my car might be able to use a keyless remote, but am not sure. The owner said he bought it from a 2nd owner and said he wasn't sure. The 2nd owner told him that the key was a remake and that he lost the dealer originals. Mainly I'm concerned if there is something in the VIN number or the GM Serivce Parts Identification tag that can tell me if my vehicle can use this. Or if there is something in the instrument fuse panel or another simple way that can determine this. I'd rather not spend $75 to have the dealer tell me. I've seen remote you can buy that you can then program. I didn't see anything on the doorjam except loading information. I did see the code AU0 on the… [cont.]

A. Yes, you can look on the SIPI sticker located either clove box or on the driver's side door jam and get the code. That will tell if, it came from the factory w/ the keyless entry system on it. It could be the AP3 or the AP7 code listed on the sticker. As seen on the RPO code list shown below(in the link). Good luck!

Yahoo autos third party service fraud?
Q. Heres another one from this guy, got this one about a motorcycle Hi, This is how it works. I will initiate the transaction using the terms below and your details for shipping. Yahoo Autos will contact you with further instructions about what you need to do. You will send the funds in escrow to Yahoo Autos. They will hold in trust the funds and advise me to ship to your address. You will get the bike and test drive it, inspect it etc for 3 days. After that you will have to confirm with Yahoo Autos that you like it and I will get paid at that time. If you don't like it you will get your money back in full and I will get my bike back and try to find another possible buyer. This will be at no cost for you so it's your decision. If you're ok… [cont.]

hello, is there an actual yahoo auto depot?
Q. i received this email about purchasing a car Hello, Sorry for this late reply but I was unable to check my e-mail until now. The car is in good running condition and comes with a clear title. There is no lien on it there will be no monthly payments no take over payments just final price. It's a non smoker car with zero mechanical/elec trical problems no damages or accidents. I am looking to sell it right away for $2900 (shipping and title transfer fees included). There is a reason for selling it for such a low price but it's just something personal that has nothing to do with the car's condition and I'm not willing to discuss it so please don't ask. I would like to use a third party service to handle this transaction for our both… [cont.]

A. honestly, that sounds a little bit suspicious for a number of reasons. 1) if you have not gone onto yahoo autos, then there's the number one problem. 2) i just checked yahoo autos and it looks mostly like a place to price automobiles. 3) most things like this, it should be the buyers choice on way to pay- generally allowing you to pay right over the internet. 4) most 3rd party payment methods, they like to have you use western union, and one of the warnings on the send form is that you are paying to receive a good or service- such as the car. 5) also, the fact that this person wants the car sold quickly
